I’m glad that I finally finished this after more than 1 month working on it. Saber is one of the most popular Japanese fantasy anime characters. She is the warrior summoned to join a Holy Grail war from the imaginary past and according to the story line, she was King Arthur. For those fans of Saber, please forgive me not making a faithful version of her. I intended to make her more grown up with a mature look, and a bit of royal touch.

The Figure

Head: CoolGirl CG-EX4 Kisaragi Honey modified (see below)
Body: Volks upper body + CoolGirl 2.0 lower body (see below)
Costume&Armor: limited edition Saber from Azone/Obitsu. Metallic wires were put insider the dress for posing purpose.

Head
The challenge is to produce Saber’s hair style. After many trials, I decided to cut the hair and use water diluted white glue to keep it in shape. Then I used AB putty to make the shape of the hair at the back of the head. Finally, repaint the eyes and lips with acrylics.

Body
The original Obitsu body is too thin and not so good articulation. However, if I swap it with CoolGirl it is too big for the costume. To solve this, I used a hybrid body composing of upper body from Volks and lower body from CoolGirl. They were joined together by Sebone. Breast size was trimmed down to fit the chest armor better. Neck pole was modified to fit a CoolGirl head. Leg armors were rebuilt (see below). Arm armors were repainted.

Leg Armors
The metallic parts came from the original figure. First I fixed those armors to the shins. Then I used AB putty to sculpt the rest of the shape of the leg armors. I’m not entirely satisfied with the result but they seem to look ok under the dress.

Swords
Saber has 2 swords: Caliburn and Exculibur. No modification just repainted. Caliburn came with the figure. Exculibur is actually a letter opener.
